Graduate Student Application
Application due: Monday, November 30, 2020
The CUNY Humanities Alliance is pleased to announce an opportunity for doctoral students at The Graduate Center (enrolled in Fall 2020) to receive $1,000 stipends for contributions to a Covid-19 impact project documenting the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, including related and interlocking impacts of economic, social and political structures, including Black Lives Matter. These contributions would become part of an online compilation of reflections and resources that document how doctoral education and college teaching have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. This could take many forms, including a written reflection, a classroom activity, a new rendition of a syllabus, a short story, a vlog, a zine, etc. You are welcome (and encouraged) to submit something that you have already created during the pandemic.
We especially welcome applications from people teaching in community colleges, as well as submissions related to:
Equity and access within higher education
Value of the humanities
Connection between doctoral education and community college teaching
Applicants will be asked about the following on the application:
- Your contact information
- College where you taught in Spring 2020
- Course(s) you taught that transitioned to distance learning
- Describe how your doctoral education or teaching has been transformed by the pandemic (max 150 words)
- Describe what you would like to share in this collection (a reflection, a class activity, a new syllabus, etc.) and its import / your reason for sharing it. Are you sharing it as a resource for others who have to change their teaching, as a reflection to capture this historic moment of change within higher education, or to highlight another aspect of your work right now? (max 100 words)
If your application is approved, you will have the opportunity to edit your written descriptions above for publication, and be asked to include the work you describe with your final submission.
Application due: Monday, November 30, 2020
